Vision, Values & Statement of Faith

Vision

  1. Loving God, Growing Together and Making a Kingdom Impact
  2. Win a Person to Christ (Mark 16:15-16)
  3. Disciple a Person in Christ through teaching and preachings (Matthew 28:19-20)
  4. That person reaches another Person for Christ (Acts 1:8)

VALUES

  • Lost people absolutely matter to God, so they ought to matter to the church.
  • Preaching, Worship, Prayer and Scripture study can and does change lives.
  • The Good News is that the Lord accepts us as we are, but the Great News is that He doesn’t leave us that way.
  • The church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally sound.
  • Who you are is more important than what you know or what you do.
  • A call to servanthood and ministry is the natural progression of a maturing believer

What we believe/ Statement of Faith

Scripture: We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. We believe the Bible is the final authority in every area it addresses for every individual Christian, and the church collectively. It is the only true written God given rule of faith and practice.

Trinity: We believe there is one living and true God who co-eternally exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. equal in power and glory. We believe that all things were created by Him and for Him.

Jesus: We believe in the person of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth

Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father through the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, and seals believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He empowers them to live as His witnesses. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, comforter, counselor, and guide (Romans 8:26). The supreme evidence of the Spirit-filled life is the fruit of the Spirit, love. We believe that all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Scripture are available to, and active in His church today.

Mankind: We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). We believe the rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. God created male and female equal in value, dignity, and worth. (Genesis 1:26-28, Ephesians 5:22-6:4, 1 Timothy 3:1-7)  We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of First Baptist Church Boiling Spring Lakes.

Sin: We believe that, as a result of the Fall also known as original sin, all people are sinners by nature and choice and falling short of God’s standard and breaking His commandments – are therefore under God’s righteous judgment. Yet, God saves and gives new life to all who come to Him in repentance and faith, trusting in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. At the cross, Jesus Christ died in our place as our substitute, absorbing God’s wrath that should have come upon us, thus providing the remedy and forgiveness of sins. (Romans 3:10, 23; Romans 5:18-19, Matthew 1:21)

Salvation: Because Jesus died for the sins of the world the invitation to believe is open to all, and whoever desires may come unto Jesus for new life and the forgiveness of sins. That salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. We believe that all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved eternally.

The Church: We believe there is one church, the body of Christ, consisting of men and women from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. We believe in the universal Christian church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all who are born again are a part of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:15-16).

Ordinances: We believe that the Lord, Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church: water baptism of believers and the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Marriage: We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). We believe that marriage between one man and one woman, for life, uniquely reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church (Eph. 5:21-33). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

Eschatology: We believe in a literal Hell, a literal Heaven, and in the New Creation and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity with the Lord. Those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord. We believe in the resurrection of the dead. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Believers will be raised to life, and unbelievers to shame and everlasting contempt.

Premillennial: We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which is His personal, visible return to Earth and the establishment of His millennial kingdom. We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth, to sit upon the throne of David and rule over the house of Jacob (Israel), and the entire cosmos, forever. We believe in the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Church where all believers will meet the Lord in the air and be taken out of this world prior to the Tribulation that will come upon the earth.

How to receive Salvation

Realize God loves you.

  1. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The Bible teaches that regardless of your background, age, race, or any other factor, God loves you and desires a genuine, personal relationship with you.
  2. Realize everyone is a sinner.
The Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” No one is perfect. We have all broken God’s commandments. This is called sin, and it separates us from God.
  3. Realize sin has a price that must be paid.
Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The “wage” or payment for our sin is death, which according to the Bible is eternal separation from God in a place called Hell.
  4. Realize Jesus Christ died to pay the price for your sin.
Romans 5:8 says, “But God showed his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” If we choose to accept Christ, we do not have to pay the price of death and Hell for our sins because Jesus paid for our sins when He died on the cross and rose again three days later!
  5. Finally, pray and ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior, and claim His promise of eternal life.
In Romans 10:13 the Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That is a promise directly from God that if you will pray to Him, confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive your sins, and accept Him as your Savior, He promises to save you and give you the free gift of eternal life.

Baptism

If you have prayed to receive Christ as Savior part of now being a Christian is being baptized by water and making your decision public. Romans 1:16 says “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus. This is how you show that you are not ashamed. Salvation and Baptism are the being of the journey. There is still much to experience as you grow in relationship with Jesus.

If you have taken the step of salvation and you want to be baptized, feel free to talk to Pastor Ron Allen or one of the church Deacons or a Sunday school teacher and they will get you pointed to the right person.

Church Membership

If you are a already baptized believer in Jesus you can join this body of believers by coming down front during the time of invitation on a Sunday Morning and talk with Pastor Ron and let him know you wish to move your membership to FBC or if you are joining by profession of faith in Jesus that is exciting as well and let Pastor Ron know at the invitation time as well.
